about this award

This award provides organisations with up to £2,500 (£2,000 average) to turn a heritage idea into a project. such as collecting memories and oral histories, researching local stories, running community workshops, working with artists or facilitators, creating exhibitions, films, performances or publications, and sharing heritage with wider audiences. This programme focuses on Bradford’s living, community-led heritage, particularly its intangible traditions, memories and creative practices. These could include oral histories and migration stories, faith-based customs, textile arts, spoken word, community festivals and other forms of cultural expression. The Award supports organisations that bring these stories and experiences to life, exploring what heritage means to people across the Bradford district and ensuring that the heritage of diverse communities is recognised, celebrated and shared.
Projects should include how activities can be planned and delivered in environmentally responsible ways. Environmental sustainability does not need to be a separate activity within your project. We encourage organisations to consider how sustainable approaches can be embedded throughout the planning and delivery of their work, while remaining appropriate to heritage.
