Come and find out how stained glass is made with an award-winning glass artist, then have a go at designing your own stained-glass roundel.  We will make a group display of everybody’s designs at the end of the workshop (optional participation) and roundels can be taken home afterwards and displayed in a window.  

The roundels are made using coloured pens and transparent film – you can work on your own design or use the templates and pre-cut shapes provided.  For those not able to hold a pen or place the shapes, we can make a roundel for you at your direction. 

During the workshop you will have the chance to handle small stained-glass panels and also see the tools used to make them (there are no sharp edges and any lead surfaces are made safe with lacquer). 

We will explain what to do at the start of the session and there will also be step-by-step picture-guides on each table.  Hand-wipes will be provided in case the coloured pens get on your hands (please note the pens are alcohol-based felt-tips so can stain skin and clothes).   You can bring an apron or similar to protect your clothes if you prefer but this is not essential.

There will be a break about midway through the activity (soft drinks provided).

Please book your place in advance as there is a maximum of 8 children/young people per session (with extra seats for accompanying adults).
