SNOOP will deliver a series of inclusive Djembe drumming workshops for young adults with learning disabilities, neurodiversity, and complex health needs. The project will use music and performance arts to provide participants with opportunities for creative expression, confidence building, skill development and social connection. Led by a drumming facilitator and supported by SNOOP staff, participants will learn how to play the Djembe drum through accessible and engaging sessions. They will explore rhythm, beats and group percussion techniques, with activities adapted to meet individual communication, sensory, physical and learning needs. At the end of the week, participants will take part in a celebratory performance, showcasing the rhythms and pieces they have learned. The performance will be filmed and shared on SNOOP's social media channels, highlighting a strengths based message focused on what people can do, rather than what they cannot do. This will raise awareness of the talents, creativity and achievements of young people with SEND while giving participants a sense of pride, accomplishment and visibility within their community.
