‘Show Me Your Story’ is an exploration of storytelling for and with Braithwaite’s young SEND community. For many of the SEND kid’s school is problematic and their experience of education is difficult. This leads to issues with confidence and communication which can damage their chances of meaningful employment. ‘SMYS’ is a fun day for those living with SEND; it’s a safe environment where we use the story bag/sack to allow them to express themselves and develop confidence and communication skills. Items in the story sack can be tailored to meet individual learning requirements and we will include sensory items like lights, fabrics and items that can make a gentle noise. ‘Show Me Your Story’ is the start of a programme that will run throughout 2027.
