The activity is based around making trick or treating buckets/containers. The basis of the activity is the ‘blue bucket’ movement where children with communication difficulties use a blue pumpkin bucket to signal they have additional needs. The purpose is to try and help as many young people engage as possible and remove as many barriers to engagement as possible
Not all children celebrate Halloween or want to go trick or treating so there is no requirement for it to be themed specifically around it, they would be free to create a general treat bucket, a small bag, or whatever else they can think of
We will also provide information about the blue bucket programme, so people can make the educated decision of whether or not it’s something they wish to use
In the space at the same time we will have the opportunity for the parents of the young people to talk, make connections, and share experiences.
The session will be an arts session with the general focus being on creating our own containers for sweets. We will be using mostly reclaimed materials to reduce waste and promote recycling
