young heritage awards
The Young Heritage Awards provide awards of up to £500 and support for projects led by organisations that engage young people aged 16-25 in exploring and sharing Bradford’s heritage. Projects should place young people at the centre, building skills, confidence and connections to local cultures, traditions and stories while encouraging inclusive participation in heritage activities.
about this award
Only organisations may apply for this Award. If you are not an organisation with a legal structure or you are applying as an individual you are ineligible for this award and your application will be rejected. Organisations may only apply for one award from this programme.
This award supports young people aged 16–25 to explore, celebrate and share the heritage of Bradford District. With awards of up to £500, this enables organisation led projects that uncover local memories, traditions, stories, languages, cultural practices and lived experiences. Organisations must have young people at the heart of projects, either leading activities or benefiting directly; helping them develop skills, confidence and a stronger connection to Bradford’s diverse heritage. Projects will be inclusive and accessible, encouraging participation from those who may not usually engage with heritage. Successful organisations will receive funding, guidance, evaluation support, peer learning and heritage-sector connections.
Projects should include how activities can be planned and delivered in environmentally responsible ways. Environmental sustainability does not need to be a separate activity within your project. We encourage organisations to consider how sustainable approaches can be embedded throughout the planning and delivery of their work, while remaining appropriate to heritage.
