community-led research lab

@theleapbd

empower communities. drive impact. transform research.

The Leap Community-Led Research Lab unleashes the lived experience of our least engaged communities to lead research and evaluation. Partnering with communities and research institutions, the Lab helps to gather learning and insights to inform policy, practice and people’s everyday lives.

Our diverse and dedicated team of trained Community Researchers has been at the forefront of community-led design and implementation of research and evaluation.

What is Community-Led Research?

Community-Led Research is the process of gathering real-world insights directly from local communities to understand their preferences, behaviours, and challenges. It goes beyond traditional surveys, as it is led by local people, ensuring that the findings are deeply rooted in lived experience

why is community-led research important?

  • Authentic Insights – Research conducted by trusted community members leads to honest and accurate data.

  • Stronger Engagement – Organisations build deeper connections with communities by involving them in the research process.

  • Informed Decision-Making – Whether launching a new programme, planning an event, or evaluating a project’s impact, data-driven insights lead to better outcomes.

  • Diversity and Inclusion – Community research ensures that all voices are heard, especially those from underrepresented groups.
