The Dying Matters project at WomenZone in Bradford has become a pioneering initiative, supporting disadvantaged ethnic minority women—particularly Pakistani women—as they navigate experiences of death, dying, and bereavement.
With support from The Leap and Hospice UK, and in collaboration with WomenZone and Palliative Care Consultant Dr. Jamilla Hussain, the project has successfully created a safe and supportive environment where women can share their stories and experiences.
Artist Shy Burhan led a series of six workshops using culturally relevant and accessible creative methods. These sessions allowed participants to express their feelings and experiences around grief and bereavement.
The culmination of these workshops and community engagements is now a touring exhibition that showcases the artwork created by participants. The exhibition offers powerful insights into their experiences and needs, aiming to amplify the voices of Pakistani women facing death, dying, and grief while developing greater awareness and understanding.
If you would like more information please contact Shabz 07973661229 (The Leap) otherwise we hope to see you at the exhibition.
